Imagine my suprise when I come home to find Ben, who had just left San Antonio two days before to make the eight hour drive back home, waiting for me when I came home from work on wednesday. Talk about pleasant suprises.
Well, yesterday, we decided to go on a picnic, complete with park, blanket, and Taco Cabana. He even brought his stereo so we could listen to a CD he had burned a bunch of love songs onto. Most of them were songs I already knew and loved, but the last one wasn't familiar. It started with just piano accompaniment that sounded like it had been recorded at home. Then all of a sudden, Ben started singing the words that went with it. It took me a little while to realize, but he had written this song for me. He wrote the words AND music, composed the whole thing, and recored it himself. It was beautiful. I mean, this song could easily make it onto the radio, it was that good.
So then, he got down on one knee and did the whole, "Will you marry me?" thing.
So, long story short, for those of you that are habitual skimmers, he drove eight hours from Louisiana just to propose to me.
He had to go back home today, but it's barely more than 3 weeks until we go back to school.
And in the meantime, I have a nice shiny ring to keep me occupied.
